Obituary for Roger Jay Johnson

The memorial service for Roger Johnson, 54, of Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Aberdeen Salvation Army, with Major Dale Hunt officiating. Roger died Friday, April 5, 2019 at Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, SD.

Roger Jay Johnson was born on July 31, 1964 to Floyd and Margaret (McBurney) Johnson Jr. at Aberdeen SD. This is the area where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High school. On February 14, 1993; he married Wilma-Lee Ann Rybski in Aberdeen. Wilma passed away on May 25, 2016.

Roger worked at various restaurants in the Aberdeen area as a cook over his lifetime, including the Starlite/Marlins, Palm Garden and the Moccasin Creek Country Club. Roger was a firearm enthusiast, collecting guns and enjoyed hunting in his youth. He loved music, animals, especially dogs, watching wresting and Chicago Cubs baseball. Above all, Roger cherished time with family, and had a nick-name for everyone.

Grateful for having shared Roger’s life are brothers: Lloyd Stippich, Leonard Stippich, Brian Johnson; sisters: Susan Tofflemire, Ella (Thomas) Sutton Sr., Vickie (Henry) Hoerner, six step children: Sheila (Larry) Hanson, Sandi (Don) Carrlson, Angie (David) Smith, Jessica (Stacy) Deering, James (Lisa) Pernsteiner and Andrew (Melissa) Pernsteiner. Roger had nineteen Grandchildren and twenty-three Great Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Margaret Johnson, Brother Wyatt Johnson and niece Tiffany Wright.
