Grace June Moldenhauer was born June 18th, 1929 to Lucas and Hulda Moldenhauer in McIntosh Co, ND. Growing up on a rural ND farm she learned the importance of hard work and determination and used those lessons to do anything she set her mind to accomplish. She married Alvin Fischer in 1949 and they made their home in Eureka, SD and taught at rural schools in the area. A daughter Rhonda Rae was born to them on April 2nd, 1953, and Jodene Lee February 13th, 1958. She continued teaching while taking correspondence and summer classes at Northern State College until 1967 when her determination and hard work paid off in a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She retired from Eureka School after teaching for 33 years. In 1987 she moved to Aberdeen and started working for the Aberdeen Convention and Visitors Bureau for 22 years. Once again, she couldn’t stay retired and began volunteer work for the Aberdeen Community Theater in the costume department for many productions over the years. She also was known for her skill in alterations and did this for many people as well as reupholstering small furniture pieces. In 2000 she was asked to take the presidency of her condo association and continued to do the job for 17 years until she was diagnosed with cancer. During her life she accumulated over 27,000 flying miles primarily to visit her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities included playing bridge regularly, sewing for anyone who asked, walking, gardening, and watching both grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Grace’s life are her daughters: Rhonda (Kelly) Withers, Twin Falls, ID, and Jodene Moench, Burnsville, MN; grandchildren: Cameron (Amy) Schock, Christopher (Alana) Schock, Lauren ( Matthew) Freudenthal and Daniel (Amy) Crissman; great-grandchildren: Alexis Schock, Abigail Schock, Haley Schock, Theo Freudenthal, Holden Freudenthal, Collins Freudenthal, Ruby Crissman, and Anna Crissman; and her siblings: Jackie Klettke, Gloria Teske, Fern Buerkle, Curtis (ReNay) Moldenhauer and Jerry (Denise) Moldenhauer.
