Dalles B. Kurle was born May 17, 1928, to Adolph and Edna (Speidel) Kurle, on the family farm near Java, SD. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then graduated from Java High School in 1946. In high school, Dalles was in band and was a cheerleader and majorette. She then went to Northern State Teachers College. After earning her teaching certificate, she taught at Blessing Country School near Java.

On December 8, 1946, Dalles was united in marriage to Erwin Zeller in Java. Two daughters; Sandy and Cindy were added to this union. They made their home on the Zeller family farm for several years prior to moving to Webster, SD, where they owned and operated a fur farm. Dalles had several jobs in retail including working as a salesclerk at Riddles Jewelry in Webster. Dalles and Erwin remained in Webster until 1968 when they moved to Aberdeen. Dalles worked as a salesclerk at Riddles and Pleinis Jewelry for several years and then worked at Sweetheart Thrift Bakery until retiring.

Dalles was an active member of Aberdeen First United Methodist Church, and member of the Germans From Russia Heritage Society. She was a woman of deep faith, attending the Angler’s Sunday School Class each Sunday at church. She enjoyed family trips and took several bus trips to Branson and New England states. She loved having coffee with her friends. Doing word puzzles and embroidery were favorite pastimes of hers. Dalles loved feeding and watching the birds. Dalles and Erwin lived south of Aberdeen for 43 years and she enjoyed the produce and flowers in Erwin’s garden. Dalles moved to Primrose Apartments after Erwin died in October of 2015. She made many good friends at the apartments.

Grateful for having shared Dalles’ life are her daughter: Sandy (Dave) Hasselberg, Lakeville, MN; her son-in-law: John Koerner, Aberdeen; sister-in-law: Betty Biel and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dalles in death are her parents: Adolph and Edna; her husband: Erwin; daughter: Cindy Koerner; and her sister: Darlene Hartman.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
