On December 18, 2000 Spitzer Funeral Home became locally owned and operated by Kevin T Spitzer.

With 22 years of professional experience, our goals are to ensure that all possible care, respect, and comfort is given to each and every family during their time of loss.

Kevin T. Spitzer grew up in Eureka and graduated from high school in 1982. He attended Northern State University where he received an Associate of Science Degree. He interned at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home in 1985. In 1987, he received his Mortuary of Science Degree from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He returned to work at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home until 1993 when he became employed at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City. In August of 1997, Kevin began managing Spitzer Funeral Home and on December 18, 2000, he purchased the funeral home.

Kevin has two children; Krystina and Danielle.

On November 13, 2006 Kevin purchased Miller-Huebl Funeral Home and now operates at 1111 S. Main St. as Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.

Kevin and Lynda were married on September 13, 2009 in Key West, FL.

Brandon grew up in Goshen, IN and moved to Wessington Springs, SD in 1992.  He  graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1994.  He attended Northern State University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a Criminal Justice  option.  In 2000, he went on to receive his Mortuary of Science Degree from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN.  He served his apprenticeship at Price Funeral Chapel in Britton, SD.  Brandon joined us on June 1, 2002 as a licensed director, and in January, 2012 became part owner of Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.  Brandon and his wife, Sara have three children, Micah Joshua and Levi. They attend the Assembly of God Church.  They enjoy time spent at Storybook Land and the Aberdeen Aquatics Center.


Book Lorne &fam


Lorne L. Serr was born and raised at Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School in 2005. He attended Dakota State University at Madison, SD prior to his enrollment at Worsham College of  Mortuary Science at Wheeling, IL.   While attending college in Chicago's northwest suburbs, Lorne was employed at Glueckert Funeral Home at Arlington Heights, IL.  He graduated with honors from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in September of 2008.  He returned to South Dakota following his   graduation and has been a licensed director in South Dakota since December 2008.  In January, 2012 Lorne became part owner of Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.  Lorne and his wife, Samantha are avid golfers.  They also enjoy hunting and fishing.  Samantha is employed as a Registered Nurse and works in the Dialysis Department at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.  Lorne and Sam have one son, Parker, and they are members of St. Mary's Catholic Parish.



Book Tina &fam


Tina is the daughter of William J. and Else     Schumacher of Aberdeen.  She attended Roncalli    Catholic School, graduating in 1994. Tina attended Presentation College in    Aberdeen and University of Mary, in Bismarck, ND, graduating from University of Arkansas Community  College at Hope, AR, with a degree in Applied Funeral Science. Tina and her children Michael, Sabrina, and Kaitlynn recently relocated to Aberdeen where her children attend Roncalli. Tina and her children attend St. Mary's Catholic Church. Tina enjoys shopping, reading and the outdoors. She loves to spend time with her children, which includes going to the movies.

Tina is honored to be a part of a staff who takes pride in funeral service and serving families.


Wendy & Jim Schaunaman


Wendy Schaunaman is a graduate of Frederick High School.  She spent a number of years in Arizona, Wyoming, and North Dakota before returning to the area in 1991.  Since returning, she has enjoyed working and getting to know people in the Aberdeen area.  Prior to starting at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home in March of 2011, Wendy owned and operated a business on Main Street for ten years.   She and her husband, Jim, have four grown children.  Jim is employed by 3M.  They attend the Aberdeen First Assembly of God Church.  They have enjoyed the experience of having a number of foreign exchange students stay with them over the years from Germany, Japan, Brasil, India, China & South Korea.  Both are very fortunate to have their parents living near enough to spend time with them.  Together, some of their favorite things are taking walks and traveling to visit family and friends.  They find exceptional joy spending time with their grandchildren.
